Tom Hardy shared a behind-the-scenes look at the battle between Venom and Riz Ahmed’s Riot.
In 2018, Sony launched its Universe of Marvel Characters with the release of Venom with Tom Hardy in the titular role. For the first film, the creative team opted to pit the anti-hero against the antagonist symbiote known as Riot and cast Riz Ahmed as the villain’s alter-ego, Carlton Drake.
Now, Tom Hardy has taken to his official Instagram account to share a behind-the-scenes look at the final fight between Venom and Riz Ahmed’s Riot before digital effects were added to the scene. Taken by co-writer Kelly Marcel, the video offers fans a glimpse at just how awkward, as Hardy puts it, the fight choreography looks before the CG is added.
You can check out the video below.
While Riz Ahmed’s Riot seems to have been soundly defeated, Tom Hardy will reprise his role as Eddie Brock in the upcoming sequel. Directed by Andy Serkis from a script written by Kelly Marcel, Venom 2 also stars Michelle Williams as Anne Weying, Naomie Harris as Shriek, and Woody Harrelson as Carnage.
Here is the official synopsis for the first Venom film:
The evolution story of Marvel’s most enigmatic, complex and badass character – Venom! Eddie Brock (Tom Hardy) is a broken man after he loses everything including his job and fiancée. Just when his life is at its lowest, he becomes host to an alien symbiote which results in extraordinary superpowers – transforming him into Venom. Will these powers be enough for this new lethal protector to defeat great evil forces, especially against the far stronger and more weaponized symbiote rival, Riot?
Directed by Ruben Fleischer from a script written by Jeff Pinkner & Scott Rosenberg and Kelly Marcel, Venom stars Tom Hardy, Michelle Williams, Riz Ahmed, Scott Haze, Reid Scott, Jenny Slate, Ron Cephas Jones, and Woody Harrelson.
Venom is now available on Digital HD, 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, and DVD.
