Universal Moves Vin Diesel’s ‘Fast and Furious 9’ To May 2021

The road to F9 just got a bit longer...

Universal Pictures has now moved the latest Fast and Furious installment starring Vin Diesel from April to May in 2021 after No Time to Die delayed its release date.

Fast and Furious 9, or F9: The Fast Saga, was initially going to come out on May 22, 2020, but Universal was one of the first studios to make a move and delayed the film to 2021 due to the pandemic. Now, news comes out today that Universal has pushed back Vin Diesel’s Fast and Furious 9 once again, with the film now hitting theaters over Memorial Day weekend on May 28, 2021.

Universal originally set Fast and Furious 9 for April 2, 2021, but it was previously revealed today that No Time to Die will now be taking that date. It’s worth noting that Universal is also distributing the next James Bond film internationally.

Are you looking forward to Fast and Furious 9? Do you think this will be the last time the film will be delayed? Sound-off in the comments section below!

Here is the official synopsis for Vin Diesel’s Fast and Furious 9.

Vin Diesel’s Dom Toretto is leading a quiet life off the grid with Letty and his son, little Brian, but they know that danger always lurks just over their peaceful horizon. This time, that threat will force Dom to confront the sins of his past if he’s going to save those he loves most. His crew joins together to stop a world-shattering plot led by the most skilled assassin and high-performance driver they’ve ever encountered: a man who also happens to be Dom’s forsaken brother, Jakob (John Cena, next year’s The Suicide Squad).

F9 sees the return of Justin Lin as director, who helmed the third, fourth, fifth and sixth chapters of the series when it transformed into a global blockbuster. The action hurtles around the globe—from London to Tokyo, from Central America to Edinburgh, and from a secret bunker in Azerbaijan to the teeming streets of Tblisi. Along the way, old friends will be resurrected, old foes will return, history will be rewritten, and the true meaning of family will be tested like never before.

Directed Justin Lin from a script written by Daniel Casey, Fast and Furious 9 stars Vin Diesel, John Cena, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Chris “Ludacris” Bridges, Jordana Brewster, Nathalie Emmanuel, Cardi B and Sung Kang, with Helen Mirren and Charlize Theron.

Fast and Furious 9 will be released in theaters on May 28, 2021. Stay tuned for all the latest news on the future of the franchise and be sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel for more video content in the future!
