Are Spider-Man and Kingpin finally going to throw hands? Vincent D’Onofrio gives his thoughts on the latest rumor about the two iconic characters meeting on the silver screen.
The rumor mill has its fair share of classics that it likes to spit out again and again. A popular actor has been cast in an unknown role, Robert Pattinson’s Batman is in the DC Universe, Sony is making an animated Venom movie. Though perhaps no rumor has truly been more pervasive than the idea that Vincent D’Onofrio’s Kingpin would, someday soon, come to blows with Tom Holland’s Spider-Man.
Of course, that meeting hasn’t materialized yet. But, if this latest rumor is to be believed, it may be on the horizon. Alex Perez at The Cosmic Circus confirmed the franchise’s intentions to bring the two characters together in their latest rumor round-up. And while Vincent D’Onofrio won’t be in the next Spider-Man film, a post-credits scene may tease Kingpin’s influence on films to come.
“The plan with Kingpin is to have him face off against Spider-Man, which hasn’t changed. And for Brand New Day, it’s possible we could see a mid-credit or post-credit scene that would tease an upcoming bout against them.”
Is Kingpin In The Next Spider-Man Movie?
Given he’s only second to James Gunn in responding to the online rumor mill, Vincent D’Onofrio was quick to take to social media to comment. The Kingpin actor kept things short and sweet, simply saying that he has “no idea” if the rumor is true. While disappointing for some, it does leave the door open for his confrontation with Spider-Man to finally come to pass.
Honestly, i have no idea.

With how popular both Kingpin and Spider-Man are, it would be shocking if Vincent D’Onofrio doesn’t find some way to crossover with the webhead on the silver screen. The tricky part when it comes to this rumor isn’t the intention, but the rights, as Sony has been infamously fickle about who and what they allow in Tom Holland’s Spider-Man films.
