Is Vincent D’Onofrio the perfect Swamp Thing? The actor gives his thoughts on his viral fancast for the burgeoning DC Universe reboot.
The fancast circuit has been eating good ever since the new DC Universe came to form. There have been dozens of viral “dream casts” to hit the net, from Ben Schwartz as Plastic Man to Brendan Sklenar as Batman. However, there’s perhaps no fancast as viral or as possible as Vincent D’Onofrio taking on the role as Swamp Thing.
In fact, the fancast is so popular that Vincent D’Onofrio himself has gone out of his way to respond to posts about it. Recent a social media user tweeted at the DC Universe accounts in support of the Kingpin actor playing Swamp Thing. To which D’Onofrio actually took to the replies to express his support for the casting, remarking “Yes he should”.

Is Vincent D’Onofrio Playing Swamp Thing?
This post isn’t even the first time that Vincent D’Onofrio has spoken out about wanting to play Swamp Thing in the DC Universe. The actor has remarked about his desire to join the franchise on multiple occasions, even calling it his “dream role” during a convention appearance all the way back in September of 2024.
Of course, given how vocal Vincent D’Onofrio has been regarding this fancast, chances are slim that he’s actually tapped to play the character in the DC Universe. Especially given the character’s titular project hasn’t even started casting, it’s not likely any news about who will actually be playing Swamp Thing will come out for at least a few years.
