Ruaridh Mollica is on his way to the MCU! The actor has been cast in the upcoming Vision Quest series as Tommy Shephard, also known as the hero Speed.
News about Vision Quest has been coming in hot and heavy. The series seems set to bring back and remix half a dozen characters from across the MCU’s pantheon, bringing a brand new vibe to a franchise sorely in need of a refresh. However, of all the additions to the cast, perhaps the most interesting is Ruaridh Mollica.
Fans have been expecting Tommy Shephard, aka the reincarnated Tommy Maximoff, to make his debut in the Vision Quest series ever since it was announced that his brother, Billy, would be joining the cast of Agatha All Along. Speed’s actor, Ruaridh Mollica, actually has a past with Wiccan actor Joe Locke- with the two having starred in the play Clarkston together in London.
Who Is Tommy Maximoff?
Much like his brother Billy, Tommy Shephard is the reincarnated son of Wanda Maximoff and Vision. However, much less is known about Tommy’ past than his brother’s. The two known facts are that his parents got divorced and he accidentally vaporized his high school with his super speed abilities. Following being freed from juvenile detention by the Young Avengers, he took on the name Speed to become a hero.
It’s unclear how closely Vision Quest will follow Tommy Shephard’s story from the comics. The series already seems to be taking some major creative liberties with the characters they’re reintroducing. It’s possible, due to how little is truly known about Speed, the series reinvents him to tie more closely into his father’s story.
