Earlier this year, a surprisingly great series by the name of Voltron: Legendary Defender released on Netflix. The series was produced by DreamWorks Animation and featured the voice talents of Steven Yuen (The Walking Dead), Bex-Taylor Klaus (Arrow, Scream) and Josh Keaton (Justice League: Crisis On Two Earths).
When Voltron: Legendary Defender was first announced, no one was expecting that much from it. Sure, Voltron is a franchise with a notable fan following, but Legendary Defender just seemed like another pretty good cartoon.
When the show finally premiered on Netflix with 11 episodes (the first of which was over an hour long), everyone was shocked by the quality of the animation, the acting, and more. Voltron: Legendary Defender was above the norm for modern animated shows, joining the ranks of cartoons like Avatar: The Last Airbender and Gravity Falls.
Fans waited for any news regarding the release of the much-anticipated second season. Well today, we finally have a release date, and it’s sooner than you think. Voltron: Legendary Defender Season 2 will officially be on Netflix on January 20, 2017.
Fans will have to wait just four more months before they can get their Voltron fix on! Of course, there are lot of fans who wish the second season would come out right now, especially after seeing the incredible poster and trailer released earlier this week.
If you’re one of those anxious fans, at least you still have the first season to binge while you’re waiting. The same goes for those who haven’t seen the series and want to catch up before the second season comes out. There’s only 13 episodes, so you should be able to catch up in time for season 2 easily.
Five Earth teens – Keith, Lance, Hunk, Pidge and Shiro – become the last line of defense for the galaxy in an intergalactic battle against the evil alien force led by King Zarkon.
