Warner Bros. isexpected to make a decision soon on whether to push Christopher Nolan’s Tenet from its July 17 release date.

With many studios pushing their movies as a result of the ongoing crisis, Tenet has been the only major summer blockbuster to maintain its release date. But now Warner Bros. is reportedly expected to make a decision about whether to shift the film to a later slot. Christopher Nolan is still pushing for the film’s original date, pointing out that a film of this size could help revive theaters after a long period without any releases.

A report from Variety suggests that Warner Bros. will apparently make a decision within the next week on pushing the film back because they’ll need to consider spending money on its marketing campaign. The studio won’t want to spend millions of dollars marketing the action-epic if they’ll have to move it afterwards. The film had a budget of $200 million, so from a financial standpoint its theatrical run needs to be successful in larger cities like New York or Los Angeles. Obviously, this won’t be possible if the pandemic continues to cause havoc.

Do you think the mysterious film should be pushed to a later date? What do you think Nolan’s next film is about? Sound-off in the comments below!

Full plot details on Christopher Nolan’s Tenet are currently under wraps, though Warner Bros. has officially described the film as “an action epic evolving from the world of international espionage.” Production on Tenet took place across seven countries.
