The Hollywood Reporter learned WarnerMedia has won a bidding war for an overall deal with J. J. Abrams’ Bad Robot Productions.

WarnerMedia is in final negotiations for a new overall deal with J. J. Abrams’ Bad Robot Productions following a months-long bidding war involving multiple media companies. Under the terms of the deal, J. J. Abrams’ Bad Robot will continue to develop new projects for WarnerMedia while supervising other producers on film, TV and digital platforms. According to THR sources, Bad Robot’s feature film deal with Viacom-owned Paramount Pictures is currently in the process of being moved to WarnerMedia.

The outlet’s sources estimate the value of any deal with Bad Robot could be in the $500 million domain, though it is currently unclear how many years will be set for the new partnership with WarnerMedia as terms have not been finalized. Netflix, Apple, Amazon, Comcast, and Sony Entertainment were reportedly among the many companies that met with or explored the possibility f a deal with J. J. Abrams’ Bad Robot. Although Apple and Sony reportedly came close to an arrangement with Bad Robot, THR sources claim the J. J. Abrams production company’s prioritization of being part of a larger company with both TV and film distribution helped WarnerMedia emerge ahead of other potential contenders.
