A new report suggests when fans could be getting their first look at Warner Bros. Interactive’s long-rumored next installment to the Batman Arkham franchise.
According to Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier, Warner Bros. Interactive is planning to officially unveil the next Batman game at DC’s upcoming virtual convention DC FanDome later this summer. The 24-hour global event is set to take place on August 22, giving fans a chance to hear from the cast and creators of their favorite film and television projects, as well as learn new details on upcoming video games that are currently in development.
WB’s long-awaited next installment to the Arkham game series was expected to be announced earlier this year at the Game Developers Conference or at E3 but with both of the original events canceled due to the Coronavirus pandemic, plans are to now officially announce the game at the upcoming virtual event. Rumors have also suggested that the next Arkham game will be a cross-gen release across both current and next-gen platforms such as PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X.
In addition to a new game in the Batman Arkham franchise from WB Montreal, it’s also possible fans could get a look at Rocksteady’s next game during DC’s FanDome event. The new game from Rocksteady is rumored to be a Suicide Squad centric game titled Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League. The game is also rumored to be a live-game similar to Fortnite.
As of now, neither developer has yet to confirm their next games are in-fact based on DC Entertainment properties, however, WB Montreal previously tweeted an image with the phrase “Cape sur la nuit / Capture the Knight,” teasing the Court of Owls storyline from the comics, which features a secret society attempting to kill the Batman himself.
