New ‘Superman’ BTS Photo Puts The Spotlight On Wendell Pierce’s Perry White

Wendell Pierce shared a new photo from the set of Superman!

Ahead of the Superman trailer debut, Wendell Pierce shared a behind-the-scenes photo of himself as Perry White, the iconic editor-in-chief of the Daily Planet. The image shows Pierce holding the signature cigar associated with the character, teasing at his no-nonsense, larger-than-life persona in the upcoming James Gunn-directed film.

Best known for his work in projects like Suits, The Wire, and Jack Ryan, Pierce is a veteran actor who is expected to bring gravitas and charm to the role of Perry White. As the head of the Daily Planet, White plays a pivotal part in Superman’s world, serving as both a mentor and a grounding force for Clark Kent and Lois Lane amidst the chaos of Metropolis.

Since his first comic book appearance, Perry White has been an essential character in the Superman mythos, first appearing in Superman #7 back in the 1940s. Created by Jerry Siegel and Wayne Boring, Perry White has been brought to life on the big screen by various actors, including Jackie Cooper in the Christopher Reeves Superman series, Frank Langella in Bryan Singer’s Superman Returns, and Laurence Fishburne in Zack Snyder’s DC Extended Universe movies.

What to expect from James Gunn’s Superman movie

Corenswet steps into the role of Superman, taking over from Henry Cavill, who portrayed the character in Zack Snyder’s DC Extended Universe. Rachel Brosnahan joins him as Lois Lane, alongside a star-studded cast that includes Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor and Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific. James Gunn, known for his distinct blend of humor and emotion in superhero projects like Guardians of the Galaxy and The Suicide Squad, writes and directs the film.

Superman is a much-anticipated project, given that Clark Kent has been an integral part of the DC Universe for over 80 years, with various iterations and adaptations across different media. The movie promises to explore the character’s origins and his struggles to balance his dual identities as Clark and Superman while fighting off villains and saving the world.

Superman is set to launch a new chapter for the DC Universe under James Gunn and Peter Safran’s leadership. The movie hits theaters on July 11, 2025. Stay tuned for more updates as the DC Universe continues to unfold.
