Why isn’t The Punisher in Marvel’s Daredevil: Born Again season 2? One co-star reveals why Jon Bernthal is missing out on the sophomore outing of the acclaimed series.
Fans were convinced that this was the year of The Punisher. Not only is Jon Bernthal getting his own special presentation as the Big Blambo, but he’s also going to play a supporting role in both Spider-Man: Brand New Day AND Daredevil: Born Again. At least, that’s what fans thought until it came out that he would be absent from season 2 of the series.
This left many fans scratching their heads. The Punisher is always looking for a reason to crack some skills, and having Wilson Fisk become the head of New York City seems like the perfect excuse for him to be vindicated in those beliefs. Yet even still, Jon Bernthal won’t return for the second season of Daredevil: Born Again.
Why Jon Bernthal Skipped Out On Daredevil: Born Again?
With Vincent D’Onofrio once again responding to fans on social media alongside the release of Daredevil: Born Again, some inquiring minds decided to ask him why The Punisher was absent from season 2. The answer was quite simple: Jon Bernthal was too busy filming other projects to fit the show’s production into his schedule.
“If John wasn’t busy making his own hour long Punisher film and hangin with that insect we would have wanted him to join us in Season 2 for sure,” D’Onofrio wrote. “Yet he had a wonderful opportunity to do the other projects and i for one can’t wait to see him in those.”
Given how close Daredevil: Born Again season 2 is coming out to both The Punisher special and Spider-Man: Brand New Day, it makes sense that Jon Bernthal couldn’t find the time in his schedule to return. Though given the rumored plot for season 3, he may simply be gearing up for another ride.
Daredevil: Born Again is now streaming on Disney Plus. Stay tuned for the latest news regarding the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe!
