The box office numbers for Will Smith and Martin Lawrence’s Bad Boys for Life are in and things are looking promising for another sequel.

Michael Bay’s Bad Boys II hit theaters back in 2003, and 17 years later Will Smith and Martin Lawrence are reprising their iconic roles for Bad Boys for Life. Sony originally projected that the latest Bad Boys sequel would only earn $38 million in its opening weekend, but those numbers appear to have been conservative as thefilm seems to have overperformed at the box office.

According to Variety, Bad Boys for Life earned an impressive $66 million opening weekend domestically despite its January release. Meanwhile, Robert Downey Jr.’s Dolittle only earned $31 million. Given the film’s opening weekend success, a sequel to Bad Boys For Life is already in the works over at Sony, with screenwriter Chris Bremner returning.
