Digital artist House of Mat unveiled new fan art depicting Superman actor Henry Cavill as a video game-accurate Geralt in The Witcher.
While Henry Cavill’s future as Superman is currently the subject of speculation, the actor will soon portray Geralt of Rivia in Netflix’s adaption of The Witcher. However, more than a few fans were less-then-impressed when the first official image of Henry Cavill’s Geralt was release, with many complaining the character bore little resemblance to the video game version of the monster slayer. Based on the best-selling fantasy series, The Witcher is an epic tale of fate and family. Geralt of Rivia, a solitary monster hunter, struggles to find his place in a world where people often prove more wicked than beasts. But when destiny hurtles him toward a powerful sorceress, and a young princess with a dangerous secret, the three must learn to navigate the increasingly volatile Continent together.
The Witcher stars Henry Cavill as Geralt of Rivia, Freya Allan as Ciri, Anya Chalotra as Yennefer, Jodhi May as Queen Calanthe, Bjorn Hlynur Haraldsson as Eist, Adam Levy as Mousesack, MyAnna Buring as Aretuza, and Millie Brady as Princess Renfri, with Mimi Ndiweni and Therica Wilson-Read as novice sorcerers. Showrunner Lauren S. Hissrich will also serve as an executive producer on the series while Alik Sakharov, Alex Garcia Lopez, and Charlotte Brändström are on board as directors for the eight-episode first season.
The Witcher will be available on Netflix in late 2019.
