Is Wonder Man actually getting a season 2? Showrunner Andrew Guest speaks on a potential future for the critically acclaimed Disney Plus series.

Now that Wonder Man has officially hit Disney Plus, it’s safe to say that the series was a hit. Even though the show being dumped all-at-once on the streamer was a bit disappointing for fans, it proved that the show had enough energy to survive even the cutthroat world of binge watching. But now one question remains: will there be a season 2?

Disney Plus has been spotty (to say the least) when it comes to renewing their most popular projects for season 2. Often this is because they’re designed to be a one-and-done. However, the ending of Wonder Man clearly left the door open to continue. And it seems that even during production, the cast and crew were thinking of ways for the series to live on.

“If we did get the opportunity, I have put some thought into what might happen for Simon Williams,” Showrunner Andrew Guest told The Direct. “One of the things that happened as we were getting towards filming the end of filming on the finale, Yahya, one day turned to me, and he’s like, ‘So, Simon can’t act anymore.’ And I was like, ‘What are you talking about?'”

“He’s like, ‘Well, the DODC knows that he’s got superpowers.’ So I was like, ‘Yeah, so the DODC knows it. But maybe they don’t want to let everyone else know it. Maybe there’s a deal to be worked out between Simon and the DODC, where there’s a little trade-off going on.’ We could figure it. We can square this circle, given the opportunity.”

Will Wonder Man Return For Season 2?

It’s not likely that fans will know if Wonder Man will get a season 2 or not until at least Comic-con. However, that doesn’t mean actors can’t be confirmed to return if/when the series does get a renewal. Continuing to take about the potential of the Disney Plus show, showrunner Andrew Guest teased that Josh Gad may make his return.

“We’ll also get Josh Gad free. He’s gonna come out Doorman in a Season 2, I promise.”

While mostly a playful joke about a potential storyline for season 2, this quote does actually reveal quite a bit about what future stories could look at for Wonder Man. If Josh Gad truly is safe, it’s possible that the Doorman policy could get repealed. After all, Gad’s disappearance was the main reason the law was put into place, so his return could mark the end of it.

Wonder Man will release January 27th on Disney Plus. Stay tuned for the latest news regarding Wonder Man and the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe!
