Is Simon Williams the next Mightiest Hero? Wonder Man showrunner Andrew Guest speaks on if the titular character will return in an Avengers film.
As of writing this, Wonder Man has yet to drop on Disney Plus. Despite this, Simon Williams is already being lauded across fandom spaces thanks to the overwhelmingly positive reviews about the series from critics. This has led many to wonder where they could see the titular character make his return once the show runs its course.
Most people don’t know much about Wonder Man. However, if there is one fact that fans DO know, it’s that Simon Williams was a key member in many incarnations of the Avengers. This has led many to wonder if the yet-to-debut series may secretly tie into the upcoming Avengers duology to end off the Multiverse Saga, with the actor making his return to the silver screen (literally).
Is Wonder Man In The Avengers
This question was actually broached by Wonder Man showrunner Andrew Guest during a recent interview with ComicBook.com. When asked if there were any plans for Simon Williams to return in an Avengers project, the writer admits that the series is meant to stand on its own. However, he does hope fans connect with the character enough that he does come back.
“I think Marvel’s approach to this is let each project stand on its own, and if an audience connects with it and if they connect with the character, then they can figure out how to keep using them. As we just discussed, Trevor Slattery, maybe you thought he would be a one-and-done after Iron Man 3, but Destin was able to bring him into Shang-Chi and find a whole other side of him.”
“I was so thrilled to get to use that same character again. So hopefully, people fall in love with Simon Williams, and he can continue to live on.”
Given Marvel planned out both of the next Avengers films before Wonder Man even came out, it’s likely the studio didn’t know that the series would be the hit it ended up being. So fans likely shouldn’t hold their breath for Simon Williams to return on the team anytime soon. Though, given he is already a fan-favorite, it’s very likely he at least appears in the future.
