Warner Bros.’ long-awaited Wonder Woman 1984 will find Gal Gadot’s Diana Prince in the 1980s. For her second standalone film, the titular heroine will don new gold armor for combat and the outfit has received a lot of attention in the promotional material for the sequel.

However, Sci-Fi magazine has unveiled a new Wonder Woman 1984 cover that shifts the spotlight to Gal Gadot’s classic costume. For the cover, Gal Gadot can be seen doing the classic Wonder Woman pose often used by the character to repel bullets.

The film is one of the many projects affected by the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. Originally scheduled to open in theaters in early June, Warner Bros. opted to push the release date to mid-August in hopes that the crisis will have abated by then and movie theaters, which have been forced to shut down, can re-open their doors.

Full details on the Wonder Woman 1984 plot are being kept under wraps, but the film is said to follow Gal Gadot’s Diana Prince as she comes into conflict with a formidable new adversary named Cheetah and businessman Maxwell Lord.

Directed by Patty Jenkins from a script she co-wrote with David Callaham and a treatment she developed with Geoff Johns, the film stars Gal Gadot, Chris Pine, Kristen Wiig, Pedro Pascal, Natasha Rothwell, Ravi Patel, Gabriella Wilde, Connie Nielson, and Robin Wright.

Wonder Woman 1984 is currently scheduled to be released in theaters on August 14, 2020.
