Patty Jenkins teased that Pedro Pascal’s Wonder Woman 1984 character may not be a villain.

Pedro Pascal’s Wonder Woman 1984 role was kept under wraps for quite some time after the actor joined the cast of the movie. For a while, Pascal was rumored to be playing a Greek God or iconic DC Comics villain Maxwell Lord in the upcoming sequel. Late last year, Wonder Woman 1984 director Patty Jenkins took to Twitter to reveal that Pascal’s character is indeed Maxwell Lord.

With Wonder Woman 1984 hitting theaters this October, we can officially tell you some cool things about Pascal and the movie. Back in 2018, we visited the set of Wonder Woman 1984 to chat with director Patty Jenkins and while she was mum on who exactly he was playing, the director offered up some interesting details on whether or not Pedro Pascal’s Maxwell Lord is a villain.

“We don’t know that he’s a villain,” said Jenkins. “But we do know that there’s another great character, which is Pedro Pascal. But he’s a great character. He’s just great and he’s a super part of the times, and that’s what was so fun about him to me. It’s like, what is the epitome of the 80s, nut also very symbolic to our times right now? Which is like somebody who’s everything about that era and what we believed in then that has resulted in who we are now.”

Full details on the Wonder Woman 1984 plot are being kept under wraps, but the film is said to follow Gal Gadot’s Diana Prince as she comes into conflict with a formidable new adversary named Cheetah and businessman Maxwell Lord.

Directed by Patty Jenkins from a script she co-wrote with David Callaham and a treatment she developed with Geoff Johns, the film stars Gal Gadot, Chris Pine, Kristen Wiig, Pedro Pascal, Natasha Rothwell, Ravi Patel, Gabriella Wilde, Connie Nielson, and Robin Wright.

Here is the official synopsis for the first film:

Before she was Wonder Woman, she was Diana, princess of the Amazons, trained to be an unconquerable warrior. Raised on a sheltered island paradise, when an American pilot crashes on their shores and tells of a massive conflict raging in the outside world, Diana leaves her home, convinced she can stop the threat. Fighting alongside man in a war to end all wars, Diana will discover her full powers…and her true destiny.

The first film is now available on Digital HD, Blu-Ray, and DVD while Wonder Woman 1984 will be released in theaters on October 2, 2020. Stay tuned for more updates on Patty Jenkins, Pedro Pascal and Maxwell Lord. Also, make sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel for more content!
