More X-Men are set to make their return! It seems yet another iconic mutant has been confirmed to make an appearance in Avengers: Doomsday.
One of the most exciting elements of Avengers: Doomsday is that a number of classic X-Men cast members are set to make their return to the silver screen. Alan Cumming, James Marsden, and Rebecca Romijn are all among the names set to reprise their roles in the upcoming crossover.
However, not everyone from the original X-Men movies are set to return in Avengers: Doomsday. Perhaps the biggest exclusion is Famke Janssen, who played Jean Grey in the series. Jean Grey has always been a character that sits at the core of the Mutant realm, and has been involved in many large scale Marvel crossovers, leaving many fans scratching their heads at why she’s missing.
Is Jean Grey In Avengers: Doomsday?
Shockingly, Jean Grey may not be missing after all. During a recent interview with the Power of X-Men podcast, former X-Men writer Chris Claremont spoke on the team making their return in Avengers: Doomsday. While speaking, he seemed to drop the reveal that Famke Janssen would, in fact, return as Jean Grey in the project.
“The thing I find most wonderful about it is they’re bringing back the original cast, including Famke.”
Of course, there’s no evidence that Chris Claremont himself has been involved in the development of Avengers: Doomsday. Though, given how legendary his status is as an X-Men writer, it wouldn’t be shocking if he was keyed into things the general audience wasn’t. In truth, this rumor is one of those that can go one way or another.
