X-Men: ‘Dark Phoenix’ Concept Art Reveals ‘Captain Marvel’ Ending For Sophie Turner

Dark Phoenix X-Men Jean Grey Sophie Turner Fantastic Four

Thanks to recently released concept art we now have an idea as to what Sophie Turner’s Captain Marvel-like ending for the X-Men film, Dark Phoenix, would have looked like.

As we all know by now, the latest X-Men film, Dark Pheonix, originally had a much different ending. The original finale was reportedly changed from a setting in space to one that was a bit more grounded. As it had turned out, this was due to similarities that the ending had with Captain Marvel. Thanks to one of the film’s concept artists, however, we now have an idea as to what Sophie Turner would have looked like in Dark Pheonix‘s finale.

The image in question comes from artist Houston Sharp who is credited as a concept artist for Dark Phoenix. The images in question show Sophie Turner in full fire mode flying from the Earth. It sadly doesn’t show us where she is flying to nor give us any context behind the image.

From the look of things, we may have missed out on a firey ending with Sophie Turner in Dark Phoenix!

What do you all make of this Dark Phonix image? Does it remind you too much of Captain Marvel? Was Fox right to change the X-Men film’s ending? Let us know what you think in the comments below!

Written and directed by Simon Kinberg, Dark Phoenix stars James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult, Sophie Turner, Tye Sheridan, Alexandra Shipp, Kodi Smit-McPhee, Evan Peters, and Jessica Chastain.

Here is a plot synopsis for the film:

This is the story of one of the X-Men’s most beloved characters, Jean Grey, as she evolves into the iconic DARK PHOENIX. During a life-threatening rescue mission in space, Jean is hit by a cosmic force that transforms her into one of the most powerful mutants of all. Wrestling with this increasingly unstable power as well as her own personal demons, Jean spirals out of control, tearing the X-Men family apart and threatening to destroy the very fabric of our planet. The film is the most intense and emotional X-Men movie ever made. It is the culmination of 20 years of X-Men movies, as the family of mutants that we’ve come to know and love must face their most devastating enemy yet — one of their own.

Dark Phoenix is now playing in theaters.
