The long-awaited follow-up to 2016’s X-Men: Apocalypse, simply titled Dark Phoenix, will finally be releasing its full trailer tonight but excited fans can check out a small tease of the trailer below.
2017 was supposed to be a big year for the X-Men franchise. Originally, fans were supposed to get three films in the X-Men franchise on the big screen, including Deadpool 2, The New Mutants, and Dark Phoenix. The only one that made it to the big screen was Deadpool 2 but despite extensive re-shoots, the other two X-Men films will finally see the light of day next year. Dark Phoenix will be hitting theaters this February in time for Valentine’s Day and now fans will finally get a look at the first trailer for the film tonight during The Late Late Show with James Corden tonight.
X-Men: Apocalypse and Game of Thrones star Sophie Turner teased the trailer tonight via her Instagram with a short soundbite from the trailer. Turner plays Jean Grey in the franchise, formerly played by Famke Jansen in the first three X-Men films. The character was a side character in Apocalypse but given the source material that this new film is inspired by, the actress is sure to be more of a main character, if not the main character, this time around. Check out the trailer preview and teaser image below.

Dark Phoenix is opening in a year that is currently filled to the brim with superhero films. Luckily, the film is opening in February before any of the other superhero blockbusters so it won’t have nearly as much competition as it would in the summer. The New Mutants is currently slated for an August 2nd 2019 release date, staying out of the way of many of the Marvel and DC heavy hitters like Shazam!, the Joker, Wonder Woman 1984, Avengers 4, Captain Marvel and Spider-Man: Far From Home.
We’ll be sure to keep you updated on all news regarding Dark Phoenix as more information becomes available. Were you a fan of X-Men: Apocalypse? Are you looking forward to Dark Phoenix? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below!
The film stars James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult, Tye Sheridan, Evan Peters, Kodi-Smit McPhee, Alexandra Shipp, Lamar Johnson, Sophie Turner and Jessica Chastain.
Dark Phoenix hits theaters February 14, 2019.
