The X-Men may be coming sooner than fans think! Director Jake Schreier confirms Marvel Studios has officially begun working on the highly-anticipated reboot.
Ever since it was announced that Disney had purchased 20th Century Fox, there has been one thing on fans’ minds. No, it wasn’t the effect of merging two of the biggest media networks into what many may consider a monopoly. It was when Marvel Studios would reboot the X-Men so fans could finally get a good version of the team back on the silver screen!
With Marvel Studios still wrapping up their Multiverse Saga, progress has been slow. However, there have been some interesting developments over the past few months. The rumor mill has been awash with reports of actors seemingly being “considered” to play a number of iconic X-Men. Yet perhaps the most substantial bit of news is actually that Thunderbolts and Beef director Jake Schreier would be helming the reboot.
Good Signs From The X-Men Reboot
Now that the reboot officially has a face, fans finally have someone to direct all of their questions to. And to his credit, Jake Schreier has been surprisingly open about the process of working with Marvel Studios on the X-Men. Speaking to Empire Online, the director revealed that some progress is officially being made on the film, and that he couldn’t be more excited to embark on the journey through the MCU once more.
“I can’t say anything about it, but we’ve started work on X-Men, and that’s obviously very, very exciting,” Schreier explained before later adding “[The movie is] an incredible opportunity with super interesting characters and [much] internal conflict. These characters are wrestling with their identity and place in the world—that’s inherently interesting and complex material.”
Of course, “progress” in this context could simply mean Jake Schreier and Marvel Studios volleying ideas back and forth. It’s likely the script isn’t completely locked, and pre-production is certainly off the table. With the Multiverse Saga wrapping up in 2027, it’s likely that the film will begin production sometime during that summer, with the X-Men reboot likely landing a late spring 2028 release.
