The X-Men franchise is about to close a chapter that began in 2000 with the first film; Marvel Studios is set to take over the franchise when the Disney-Fox deal closes. The characters are expected to be rebooted to fit into the 10-year old MCU. One of the last X-Men films under Fox before the Disney merger will be Dark Phoenix, here is the synopsis:
“In DARK PHOENIX, the X-MEN face their most formidable and powerful foe: one of their own, Jean Grey. During a rescue mission in space, Jean is nearly killed when she is hit by a mysterious cosmic force. Once she returns home, this force not only makes her infinitely more powerful, but far more unstable. Wrestling with this entity inside her, Jean unleashes her powers in ways she can neither comprehend nor contain. With Jean spiraling out of control, and hurting the ones she loves most, she begins to unravel the very fabric that holds the X-Men together. Now, with this family falling apart, they must find a way to unite — not only to save Jean’s soul, but to save our very planet from aliens who wish to weaponize this force and rule the galaxy.”
Dark Phoenix is directed by Simon Kinberg and stars James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult, Tye Sheridan, Sophie Turner, Alexandra Shipp, Kodi Smit-McPhee, Evan Peters, and Jessica Chastain.
Dark Phoenix is set to hit theaters on June 7, 2019.

Captain Marvel had its first press screening and has received some generally positive reactions from critics who went to the showing. It’s been over ten years since our first movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe so it’s no surprise that there will be more exciting stuff after the movie ends. Audiences at the screening have confirmed there will be two post-credits scenes — a scene before the credits roll and one afterwards.
Captain Marvel is an effective Avengers prequel in some ways akin to the 1st Captain America movie. It’s pro-woman without being overdone with pre and post credit scenes that made me tear up and gave me goosebumps respectively pic.twitter.com/or2Oj7CdRV
