Are the X-Men about to break bad? A rumor suggests that Marvel is looking to cast Bryan Cranston in a key role for the highly-anticipated MCU reboot.
As with any MCU property these days, the upcoming X-Men reboot has been absolutely churned through the rumor mill. Most of the rumors have to do with the film’s cast. While there have been some vague rumors, such as Marvel wanting to cast an African American actor for Charles Xavier, scoopers have been rather bold in calling their shots for specific actors playing a given role.
And it seems that bravado isn’t stopping now. The latest rumor from MyTimeToShineHello has revealed that Marvel actually wants Bryan Cranston to play the role of Charles Xavier in the MCU. Given the wording of the post, it doesn’t seem as the studio has made the actor an official offer to join the reboot. However, if true, it does reveal some interesting information about the character’s role in the X-Men franchise going forward.
Will Charles Xavier Be A Villain In The MCU?
While Bryan Cranston is a prolific actor, having done a tear of sitcoms and comedies in the 90s and 2000s, his most well-known role is as Walter White in Breaking Bad. For those unfamiliar with the series, White is a former chemistry professor who “breaks bad”, cooking illicit drugs for his own gain under the guise of doing what’s right.
If Marvel is truly eyeing Bryan Cranston to play Charles Xavier, it may suggest that the studio is looking to take the character in a similar direction to Walter White in the MCU. While that may seem insane to those who’ve only seen the X-Men films, this actually isn’t too far from how the character has been portrayed in the comics in recent years, suggesting this reboot rumor may end up being more fact than fiction.
