The return of the Matrix franchise is upon us and with filming beginning next month, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II is hard at work getting into shape for his role in the fourth installment of the series. Yahya Abdul-Mateen II is set to star in one of the lead roles alongside The Matrix mainstay Keanu Reeves, who will be reprising the role of Neo after more than 17 years.

In the video, which features Woah by Lil Baby, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II is doing a rigorous workout, which no doubt will reflect his character in The Matrix 4. Yes, Keanu Reeves is ripped, but he’s not that ripped, which makes us think that Yahya Abdul-Mateen II’s character might be someone who specializes in intimidating others. On the other hand, many believe that he’ll be playing a young Morpheus in The Matrix 4.

Details on The Matrix 4 are slim to none, but it wouldn’t be surprising to hear if Yahya Abdul-Mateen II was announced as the film’s villain. Yahya Abdul-Mateen II previously portrayed Black Manta in 2017’s Aquaman, a role that launched him to international stardom. Yahya Abdul-Mateen II is also no stranger to franchises, as he most recently appeared as Dr. Manhattan in HBO’s Watchmen.
