Watchmen star Yahya Abdul-Mateen II shared his brilliant reaction to finding out he’d been nominated for an Emmy for playing Doctor Manhattan.
After Watchmen raked in an impressive 26 Emmy nominations this week, one of its stars Yahya Abdul-Mateen II posted how he reacted when he discovered he’d also been nominated. HBO classified the comic book show as a limited series, so it wasn’t eligible for Best Drama Series, but the show dominated all of the limited series nominations. While many fans want more from Damon Lindelof’s Watchmen, the showrunner says he has no ideas of where to take the story next so he doesn’t want to do it just because it was popular.
Receiving an Emmy nomination is no small feat, and after Yahya Abdul-Mateen II’s brilliant performance as both Calvin Abar and Doctor Manhattan, it should be no surprise that the star is being recognized for his work. He took to Instagram with a video of himself checking through the entire list of nominations before spotting his own name. The Watchmen star excitedly jumped backward shouting towards his friends or family off-camera that he got nominated. It’s a light-hearted little clip that will definitely make fans smile, take a look below.
