Shazam! star Zachary Levi has revealed what he wants and hopes for in the upcoming sequel.
Shazam! was, of course, one of the 2019’s surprise hits. While it wasn’t Warner Bros’ biggest moneymaker, it none the less earned well over $360M worldwide on a relatively smaller budget. The film was also very well received by critics, and currently holds a 90% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes. A sequel was quickly put in the works with David F. Sandberg set to return to direct.
Currently, there are few details known about the upcoming Shazam! sequel as it is still being written. While appearing at Awesome-Con Online 2020, Zachary Levi revealed that he only knows a few general things but is excited about what he has heard and hopes that they’ll be able to make a better film:
“The truth is, I don’t know much because they’re still working on the script. I know some general stuff and I’m super stoked about all of the general stuff that I’ve heard. But ultimately what I want, I want the movie to be better than what we gave people the first time, which I think was a really good movie.”

We all have a superhero inside us, it just takes a bit of magic to bring it out. In Billy Batson’s (Angel) case, by shouting out one word—SHAZAM!—this streetwise 14-year-old foster kid can turn into the adult Super Hero Shazam (Levi), courtesy of an ancient wizard. Still a kid at heart—inside a ripped, godlike body—Shazam revels in this adult version of himself by doing what any teen would do with superpowers: have fun with them! Can he fly? Does he have X-ray vision? Can he shoot lightning out of his hands? Can he skip his social studies test? Shazam sets out to test the limits of his abilities with the joyful recklessness of a child. But he’ll need to master these powers quick.
