Warner Bros. announced the release date for Zachary Levi’s Shazam! sequel has been pushed back to November 2022.
Warner Bros. and New Line’s Shazam! offered audiences a relatively more light-hearted and family-friendly entry in the DC Extended Universe franchise, leaving fans of the film excited to see further adventures with Zachary Levi’s hero. The studio previously announced the Shazam! sequel would be released on April 1, 2022, and director David F. Sandberg recently revealed prodction was supposed to begin this year.
However, the ongoing coronavirus pandemic has forced Warner Bros. and many other studios to suspend or delay production on multiple projects, with no definitive indication of when it will be safe to resume filming at this time. Now, Warner Bros. has announced Zachary Levi’s Shazam! sequel will now be released on November 4, 2022, a little over seventh months after its initial debut date.
Here is the official synopsis for the first Shazam!:
We all have a superhero inside us, it just takes a bit of magic to bring it out. In Billy Batson’s (Angel) case, by shouting out one word—SHAZAM!—this streetwise 14-year-old foster kid can turn into the adult Super Hero Shazam (Levi), courtesy of an ancient wizard. Still a kid at heart—inside a ripped, godlike body—Shazam revels in this adult version of himself by doing what any teen would do with superpowers: have fun with them! Can he fly? Does he have X-ray vision? Can he shoot lightning out of his hands? Can he skip his social studies test? Shazam sets out to test the limits of his abilities with the joyful recklessness of a child. But he’ll need to master these powers quick.
Shazam! is now available on Digital HD, 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, and DVD.
