Warner Bros. has moved the release date of Ezra Miller’s The Flash to June 2022.
The coronavirus pandemic forced theaters across the world and various productions to shut down in an effort to slow the spread of the virus. Consequently, Warner Bros. and many other Hollywood studios have been forced to readjust their release schedules and now the company has unveiled a new debut date for Ezra Miller’s The Flash.
Production on The Flash film has experienced a number of setbacks over the years, including the departure of multiple directors over reported creative differences. However, the Ezra Miller project appeared to finally be gearing up to begin production in 2021 with a release date set for July 1, 2022.
Now, Warner Bros. has announced the release date for The Flash film has moved up by roughly one month to June 3, 2022. News of the earlier release date for the Ezra Miller film comes as Warner Bros. also announced Robert Pattinson’s The Batman has been pushed back to October 1, 2021, while Zachary Levi’s Shazam sequel will now debut on November 4, 2022.
Ezra Miller’s The Flash movie was on track to begin production next month, but its start date will likely be delayed due to the ongoing coronavirus outbreak. Directed by Andy Muschietti from a script written by Birds of Prey scribe Christina Hodson, The Flash will be inspired by the Flashpoint storyline.
For those unaware, the Flashpoint comic book storyline followed The Flash as he navigated an altered DC Universe. Written by Geoff Johns and penciled by Andy Kuber, Flashpoint radically altered the status of the DC Comics universe and led to the launch of the New 52 titles.
