During a Q&A session with fans, Zack Snyder commented on the original plan to include Steppenwolf in Suicide Squad and the film’s inclusion of Batman and The Flash.

Warner Bros.’ Justice League pit the titular team of heroes against Steppenwolf in what was the villain’s cinematic debut. However, the sinister villain was originally going to make his first appearance in Suicide Squad as the mastermind controlling Enchantress with a Mother Box. While that idea was ultimately scrapped, the final cut of Suicide Squad did feature appearances by Justice heroes Batman and The Flash. During the aforementioned Q&A session, Zack Snyder commented on how he worked with Suicide Squad director David Ayer to include Batman and The Flash while keeping them separate but noted that he unaware about Steppenwolf in Suicide Squad.

Batman is set to return to big screen in a new film directed by Matt Reeves, with a new and younger actor being sought to replace Ben Affleck, and James Gunn will reboot the Suicide Squad with a new film featuring a different set of villain. Meanwhile, Ezra Miller is writing a new script for The Flash (that is reportedly darker than John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein’s vision for the project) in hopes of staying on board as the Scarlet Speedster.

These are just a few of the projects currently being developed by Warner Bros. and DC. These also include Green Lantern CorpsBirds of PreyBlack AdamNightwingSupergirl and New Gods.
