The DC director just won Batman Day!

Zack Snyder celebrated Batman Day this weekend by sharing a new image of Ben Affleck’s armored costume from 2016’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.

Taking to Vero to mark the occasion, Snyder revealed a previously unseen image of the armored Batsuit Ben Affleck’s Bruce Wayne donned for his showdown with Henry Cavill’s Man of Steel. The costume, which had its only on-screen appearance in the 2016 movie, was heavily inspired by the armored suit worn by Batman in the graphic novel The Dark Knight Returns.

The new image – presented in black and white in typcial Zack Snyder fashion – shows off the impressive practical suit from his second DCEU movie.

Zack Snyder took to Vero, his favored social media platform, to share the new behind-the-scenes look at Ben Affleck’s armored Batman costume.

The image appears to show a costume test. While it’s not clear if Affleck is the one in the suit, it looks like it could be him. It’s impressive to see a complex and cumbersome costume such as this created practically. It would have been easy to rely on CGI to realize such a design.

Ben Affleck is set to reprise the role of Batman in next year’s Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, as well as The Flash, in which he will play one of two versions of the Dark Knight alongside Batman veteran Michael Keaton. Robert Pattinson’s Caped Crusader is also set to return in a planned sequel to this year’s The Batman.

Ben Affleck’s Batman was last seen in Zack Snyder’s Justice League. Here is the synopsis for the film:

“In ZACK SNYDER’S JUSTICE LEAGUE, determined to ensure Superman’s (Henry Cavill) ultimate sacrifice was not in vain, Bruce Wayne (Ben Affleck) aligns forces with Diana Prince (Gal Gadot) with plans to recruit a team of metahumans to protect the world from an approaching threat of catastrophic proportions. The task proves more difficult than Bruce imagined, as each of the recruits must face the demons of their own pasts to transcend that which has held them back, allowing them to come together, finally forming an unprecedented league of heroes. Now united, Batman (Affleck), Wonder Woman (Gadot), Aquaman (Jason Momoa), Cyborg (Ray Fisher) and The Flash (Ezra Miller) may be too late to save the planet from Steppenwolf, DeSaad and Darkseid and their dreadful intentions.”

The film stars Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Gal Gadot, Ezra Miller, Jason Momoa, Ray Fisher, Jeremy Irons, Diane Lane, Connie Nielsen, J.K. Simmons, and Ciarán Hinds.

Both versions of Justice League are available on HBO Max. Stay tuned for all the latest news on the future of Superman in the DC Universe and be sure to subscribe to Heroic Hollywood’s YouTube channel for more original video content.
