Justice League helmer Zack Snyder has shared a photo of his first drawings of Henry Cavill’s Superman for Man of Steel.
It’s hard to imagine that it’s been seven years since Zack Snyder introduced us to Henry Cavill’s Superman. Since then, Superman has appeared in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Justice League and last year’s Shazam! movie, though Cavill wasn’t the one on screen for the last one. Now, the DC Extended Universe that Snyder helped created has left his hands, and its future doesn’t seem to involve Cavill’s Superman.
While Henry Cavill is still adamant that he is still the DCEU’s Superman, it’s clear that Zack Snyder is completely out of the picture. Both creative forces have been vocal about their love for the DC Comics hero, which makes the whole ordeal less than ideal. However, we aren’t ones to just merely drown in melancholy as Snyder has shared a nostalgic image for the world to see, reminding us just how much he loves the Last Son of Krypton. Taking to his official Vero page, Snyder revealed his first ever drawings of Cavill in the Superman suit for Man of Steel. You can check them out below.

This conceptual drawings eventually made it onto the silver screen as the first scene where Henry Cavill donned the Superman costume, taking now iconic first flight. The drawings are minimalistic in design, about as much as you’d expect considering they’re just there to be a reference point. In fact, Superman’s “S,” which is laden on his chest, can’t even be found on Zack Snyder’s drawing. While no one’s sure when Cavill will rock the suit once again, we can see that Snyder’s vision for Superman came from humble beginnings.
