Zack Snyder Reveals New Image Of Michael Shannon As General Zod In ‘Man Of Steel’

General Zod stuns!

Was Michael Shannon the perfect General Zod? Zack Snyder reveals a new image of the villain taking during the production of Man of Steel.

It seems blasphemous to say that Michael Shannon’s General Zod was the most important villain in Zack Snyder’s DC Universe. Even though Darkseid was the looming threat, Zod was the only villain to play a major role in three projects: as a villain in both Man of Steel and The Flash, and as the genetic baseline for Doomsday in Batman V. Superman.

It’s a performance that, sadly, doesn’t get the flowers that most others get when they reflect back on the legacy of Zack Snyder’s story on the DC Universe. Michael Shannon is an Oscar-nominated actor notorious for bringing an intense energy to every project he’s in. Getting an actor of such pedigree to play General Zod in Man of Steel was both a stroke of genius and a momentous feat in it of itself.

A New Look At General Zod

With the 13th anniversary of Man of Steel looming ever closer, Zack Snyder has continued posting images of his past productions. This includes a new picture of Michael Shannon in his costume for General Zod. This specific photo seems to be a camera test for the scene after Kal-El was sent off Krypton as the planet was crumbling.

Unlike the heroes, who always have a chance to reappear in a multiverse crossover a decade down the line, it’s more likely than not that Michael Shannon’s time as General Zod is well and truly done. His performance in Man of Steel likely won’t be forgotten soon as waves of nostalgia hit Zack Snyder’s DC films in the years to come. And with projects like King Snake still on his docket, he shows no signs of slowing down.

Zack Snyder’s Justice League is currently streaming on Max. Stay tuned for the latest news regarding the future of the DC Universe!
