Zack Snyder On The Potential Return Of The Snyderverse: ‘I Would Never Say There’s No Way’

Is the Snyderverse back?

Is the Snyderverse finally being restored? Zack Snyder gives his thoughts on potentially making a return to the DC Universe to finish his plans.

The Snyderverse is a time that’s nearly unescapable in modern DC Universe discourse – and for good reason. While nominally referring to the plans Zack Snyder had for the franchise, both fulfilled and not fulfilled, the concept also speaks to a larger anti-mainstream desire for comic book films. A push to make them darker, adult, and, perhaps most importantly for some of the fans, libertarian.

There’s been a lot of chatter in recent years about Zack Snyder potentially “restoring” his plans for the Snyderverse, either on the big screen or in supplemental material like a comic book. Snyder himself has largely stayed away from this speculation, focusing on his post-DC Universe franchise building. However, that doesn’t mean a return is off the table.

“I would never say that there’s no way. I would never because I was on the ride that created Justice League,” Snyder explains to the Happy, Sad, Confused podcast. “And if you were in my shoes, there were numerous times, dark times, when I would say there is no chance that there will ever be my version of Justice League. It will never exist, and it can’t.”

“Cost, politics, everything stood against it, and yet it exists. And you know, I think the fans should never forget that they did that.”

Will The Snyderverse Return?

While Zack Snyder and his fans have certainly done the impossible before with getting the Snyder Cut of the Justice League released, revitalizing the Snyderverse in live-action seems like a tall ask, even for them. Though when asked if there was a chance for his DC Universe plans to continue in a more 2D medium, Snyder seemed to have some amount of hope.

“We’ve absolutely talked about it quite a bit. I mean, we live in a world where all that’s possible, and whatever form it would take, that would be amazing.”

In truth, while many fans believed that Netflix would restore the Snyderverse if their purchase of Warner Bros. Discovery went through, it’s possible that the current timeline is the best shot Zack Snyder has at seeing his plans through. Paramount (if they do purchase the conglomerate) will be saddled with nearly $80 billion in debt. And given Snyder fans have consistently shown out for his DC Universe projects, they may be seen as easy money.

Zack Snyder’s Justice League is currently streaming on Max. Stay tuned for the latest news regarding the future of the DC Universe!
