Zack Snyder Reveals If He Would Restore The Snyderverse On Netflix

Will it happen!?

Darkseid Zack Snyder's Justice League DC Apokolips

Zack Snyder’s newest collaboration with Netflix is set to release in just a few days. During a recent interview for the project, titled Rebel Moon, the director spoke on the possibility of restoring the Snyderverse with the streamer.

There’s been a lot of talk about Netflix’s role with the DC Universe following every pre-reboot project landing on their service. Many fans speculate this is a bid for them to help Zack Snyder restore the Snyderverse following Rebel Moon. When asked if he’d even be interested in the prospect, Snyder revealed he’d love to if Netflix could get the rights:

“If Netflix had the rights to the characters from my DC universe, of course I would,” Snyder explained during a recent interview with Cultura Ocio. “Absolutely.”

While it would certainly be interesting to see Zack Snyder restore the Snyderverse on Netflix, it’s unlikely to ultimately come to pass. DC Studios is already handling three DC Universes between Todd Phillips’ Joker, Matt Reeves’ The Batman, and the main reboot. Any more would certainly confuse fans (if they aren’t already), leaving it unlikely Netflix could obtain the rights to the characters.

The SnyderVerse era is over for now

The term “SnyderVerse” refers to the interconnected film universe that Zack Snyder created, which began with Man of Steel and continued with Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Justice League. Those plans have been scrapped in favor of an interconnected DC Universe consisting of film, television, animation and video game projects, with James Gunn and Peter Safran at the helm.

Despite its mixed reception, the SnyderVerse has a dedicated fanbase that appreciates Zack Snyder’s DC Universe vision. Fans have praised the SnyderVerse films for their darker tone and mature storytelling. They have also criticized Warner Bros. and DC’s interference with Snyder’s DCU plans, which they believe resulted in the lackluster final product of Justice League.

In 2021, Zack Snyder released his four-hour long Justice League cut on the WarnerMedia streaming service HBO Max. His version of Justice League was well received by fans and critics alike, who praised its improvement over the original version of the movie, which was overseen by Joss Whedon. The release of the Snyder Cut has reignited interest in the SnyderVerse and sparked speculation about its future.
