There was an idea...

Director Zack Snyder revealed he considered putting Ryan Reynolds in Justice League as Green Lantern.

In the theatrical version of Justice League, we got a glimpse at a Green Lantern during the History Lesson sequence, and that’s still the case for the Snyder Cut, but there’s speculation that there could be more. Ryan Reynolds already debunked rumors of him coming back as Green Lantern for the film, but it sounds like Zack Snyder actually thought about it.

Zack Snyder only added four minutes to his Justice League cut with reshoots. Still, the superhero movie auteur told The Hollywood Reporter he floated around the idea of bringing Ryan Reynolds into the fold as a Green Lantern:

“There was another idea I had for the Green Lantern that wasn’t Ryan, and so I thought that if we had gone down this path of Green Lantern, I would have had to have Ryan as the additional Lantern. Filling out the Lantern Corps a little bit more than say just one Green Lantern.”

Here is the official synopsis for the Snyder Cut:

“In ZACK SNYDER’S JUSTICE LEAGUE, determined to ensure Superman’s (Henry Cavill) ultimate sacrifice was not in vain, Bruce Wayne (Ben Affleck) aligns forces with Diana Prince (Gal Gadot) with plans to recruit a team of metahumans to protect the world from an approaching threat of catastrophic proportions. The task proves more difficult than Bruce imagined, as each of the recruits must face the demons of their own pasts to transcend that which has held them back, allowing them to come together, finally forming an unprecedented league of heroes. Now united, Batman (Affleck), Wonder Woman (Gadot), Aquaman (Jason Momoa), Cyborg (Ray Fisher) and The Flash (Ezra Miller) may be too late to save the planet from Steppenwolf, DeSaad and Darkseid and their dreadful intentions.”

Directed by Zack Snyder, Justice League stars Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Gal Gadot, Ezra Miller, Jason Momoa, Ray Fisher, Jeremy Irons, Diane Lane, Connie Nielsen, J. K. Simmons, and Ciarán Hinds.

Zack Snyder’s Justice League will hit HBO Max on March 18, 2021. Stay tuned for the latest news regarding Green Lantern’s future in the DC Extended Universe, and make sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel for more content!
