Did James Gunn do Superman justice? Zack Snyder gives his thoughts on the most recent reboot of the beloved Man of Steel.

Ever since James Gunn took over the DC Universe, the narrative was that there was some sort of bad blood between him and Zack Snyder. This largely stems from the fact that the plans Snyder had were constantly derailed and noted by Warner Bros. executives, whereas they seemed to hand Gunn a carte blanche check for his Superman reboot.

However, it seems that “bad blood” may be coming from a costume store. Zack Snyder reflected on his time as the architect of the DC Universe during a recent sit-down with the Happy, Sad, Confused podcast. When asked about his thoughts on James Gunn’s reboot of Superman, the director admitted that it isn’t something that much concerns him given how much the Snyderverse has taken on a life of its own in popular culture.

“I mean, James has been very kind. I wish them all the best. [My] three movie trilogy is a weed that just won’t die, and so it grows on its own. It has its own life and i not concerned with James’s Superman, which is amazing.”

Did Zack Snyder Like The New Superman Movie?

That last word may perk up the ears (or, eyes?) of some readers. Yes, it seems as though, not only does Zack Snyder support James Gunn’s reboot of the DC Universe, he actually enjoys it. Continuing on, Snyder expresses his excitement for the next installment of the Superman saga, calling Gunn the best leader the franchise could have.

“I can’t wait to see the next movie, and it’s just awesome. It just really, to me, it’s it’s just not the same thing. It’s just like a different thing.”

“James is singular in his storytelling in his ability to channel a mythological pop culture into what I would consider an iconic and very particular point of view that’s both poignant and funny. He’s the best at it that I can think of, and I think that he’s a great steward of that world. That’s great for fans.”

Of course, this is far from the first time Zack Snyder has expressed support for James Gunn in building a reboot for the DC Universe. The two infamously shared the screen together in a Rick and Morty parody. But hopefully these comments can show fan there’s not only room for one Superman in their hearts and minds.

Zack Snyder’s Justice League is currently streaming on Max. Stay tuned for the latest news regarding the future of the DC Universe!
