Rotten Tomatoes has unveiled the official approval rating for the upcoming horror/comedy sequel, Zombieland: Double Tap. 

As of the publishing of this article, Rotten Tomatoes’ score for Zombieland: Double Tap stands at a Fresh 73% with 45 reviews counted thus far. Rotten Tomatoes’ Critics Consensus for Zombieland: Double Tap reads as follows:

“Zombieland: Double Tap makes up for a lack of fresh brains with an enjoyable reunion that recaptures the spirit of the original and adds a few fun twists.”

The Rotten Tomatoes score for the original Zombieland stands at 90% with around 247 reviews counted.

Zombieland: Double Tap comes 10 years after the original film, which starred Woody Harrelson, Jesse Eisenberg, Emma Stone and Abigail Breslin. The 2009 film grossed $102.4 million worldwide on a budget of $23.6 million. Before the sequel was officially announced, Amazon produced a pilot for a television series based on Zombieland that received negative reviews and not picked up to series by Amazon.

Here is the official synopsis for Zombieland: Double Tap:

A decade after Zombieland became a hit film and a cult classic, the lead cast (Woody Harrelson, Jesse Eisenberg, Abigail Breslin, and Emma Stone) have reunited with director Ruben Fleischer (Venom) and the original writers Rhett Reese & Paul Wernick (Deadpool) for Zombieland 2: Double Tap. In the sequel, written by Rhett Reese & Paul Wernick and Dave Callaham, through comic mayhem that stretches from the White House and through the heartland, these four slayers must face off against the many new kinds of zombies that have evolved since the first movie, as well as some new human survivors. But most of all, they have to face the growing pains of their own snarky, makeshift family.

Directed by Ruben Fleischer from a script written by Rhett Reese & Paul Wernick and Dave Callaham, Zombieland: Double Tap stars Woody Harrelson, Jesse Eisenberg, Emma Stone, Abigail Breslin, Rosario Dawson, Zoey Deutch, Thomas Middleditch, and Luke Wilson.

Zombieland: Double Tap will be released in theatres on October 18, 2019.
