Kraven the Hunter may be darker than fans expected! The Aaron Taylor-Johnson-led Spider-Man spin-off has officially been Rated R.
For years fans have been hoping that Sony’s Spider-Man spin-off franchise would bring some much needed edge to the world of the web crawler. Yet despite many fans’ hopes, neither Venom or Morbius managed to land that coveted stamp of being Rated R. This left all hopes on what is likely the last gasp by the dying universe: Kraven the Hunter starring Aaron Taylor-Johnson.
Suprisingly, Sony has actually managed to exceed the expectations of fans. Kraven the Hunter has officially been Rated R by the MPA for “Strong bloody violence, and language.” This makes it the first Spider-Man project ever, spin-off or otherwise, to receive such a high rating. Aaron Taylor-Johnson and his team seem set to make history!
Kraven The Hunter Gets An Exciting Release Date
Fans aren’t the only ones excited for Kraven the Hunter! (Assuming there are fans excited about the Spider-Man spin-off). Sony seems unreasonably confident in Aaron Taylor Johnson’s ability to carry the upcoming film. So much so that the studio has delayed the film once more, landing it in the coveted holiday season release window of December 13, 2024.
“Kraven moved to Christmas because we’re excited about it, and Christmas is the best release period there is – when you get people with time to go back to the movies over and over again,” Producer Matt Tolmach told Collider when asked about the decision. “That was a real reflection of how the studio felt about the movie. We’re really excited. But that’s a great move that reflects just the feeling about the movie.”
Given how little audiences came out to watch Morbius, Sony is certainly optimistic to believe Kraven the Hunter will break the curse of their Spider-Man spin-off franchise. While Aaron Taylor-Johnson is a fairly big star, he wouldn’t be the first big name to be dragged down by one of these failures. Though, hopefully, the film will be passable enough it won’t come to that.
Kraven the Hunter is currently scheduled to hit theaters on December 13, 2024. Stay tuned for all the latest news regarding the Aaron Taylor-Johnson movie and be sure to subscribe to Heroic Hollywood’s YouTube channel for more content!
