The X-Men and Fantastic Four will finally meet on the silver screen! Alan Cumming reveals how the two teams will collide in Avengers: Doomsday.
Avengers: Doomsday is set to be a historic film for a multitude of reasons. It has massive stars like Alan Cumming and Sir Patrick Stewart reprising their roles as iconic heroes. Robert Downey Jr. is taking on a whole new character in Doctor Doom. However, perhaps the most impressive part is that it’ll be the first time the X-Men, Avengers, and Fantastic Four will be seen together on the silver screen in the franchise’s history.
Details about this crossover are sparse, as is every other detail about Avengers: Doomsday. However, Alan Cumming himself managed to give fans a little nugget of information to hold themselves over with. Speaking with BuzzFeed, the X-Men actor confirmed that his character will be sparring with the Fantastic Four’s own Pedro Pascal during one of the earliest scenes filmed for the project.
“Right now, I’m doing it again. I’m playing Nightcrawler again and was learning stunts yesterday for some fight scene. I’m sort of learning these fights and I’m like, ‘What, who am I fighting with?’ [They’re like,] ‘You’re hitting Pedro Pascal against the head.’ I can’t quite believe [that].”
How Will The X-Men & Fantastic Four Meet In Avengers: Doomsday?
Fans have already seen some key moments from Avengers: Doomsday in a recent Marvel project (if you know, you know), so it seems clear how the Fantastic Four themselves will factor into this crossover. However, if Alan Cumming and the other X-Men are to come to blows with the team, the question remains how those two highly-anticipated dots will connect in what is (presumably) only a 2 and a half hour film.
It’s possible that the scene fans have already seen in Avengers: Doomsday only shows part of the Fantastic Four making their way to the Sacred Timeline. This would leave Pedro Pascal’s Reed Richards and one other member available to jump over to the X-Men universe to get jumped by the mutants. This would track The Russo Brothers’ history with these types of story, as Avengers: Infinity War also featured a number of side plots focused on other parts of the world.
Avengers: Doomsday is set to hit theaters in May 2026. Stay tuned for the latest news regarding the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and make sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel for more content!
