The Invisible Man star Aldis Hodge is in talks to play Hawkman for Dwayne Johnson’s upcoming DC superhero film, Black Adam.
It’s been a long road to get to Black Adam, and sadly, we aren’t quite their yet. Like many other projects, the film’s production was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but news on the film has been steadily trickling out. The latest bit of information that has been revealed is who will play Hawkman in the highly anticipated film.
Last year, Heroic Hollywood learned that Hawkman would be involved in Dwayne Johnson’s Black Adam. During the DC Fandome event, it was revealed that the character would be one of the members of the Justice Society of America that will appear in the film and come into some kind of conflict with Black Adam. Now, we officially know who will bring the DC hero to life.
According to The Wrap and The Hollywood Reporter, Aldis Hodge is currently in talks to play Hawkman. Hodge is best known for his role as James Lanier in The Invisible Man. His film credits also include Straight Outta Compton, Hidden Figures, and TURN: Washington’s Spies. It is currently unknown how big of a role Hawkman will have in the film.

Jaume Collet-Serra is directing Black Adam from a script written by Adam Sztykiel. The Dwayne Johnson movie is expected to introduce Hawkman, Doctor Fate and the Justice Society of America to the DC Extended Universe. New Line and DC’s Shazam! was originally going to feature Black Adam before the decision was made to give the character his own standalone film.
In the meantime, fans can still re-watch the original Shazam! film on all home media formats:
We all have a superhero inside us, it just takes a bit of magic to bring it out. In Billy Batson’s (Angel) case, by shouting out one word—SHAZAM!—this streetwise 14-year-old foster kid can turn into the adult Super Hero Shazam (Levi), courtesy of an ancient wizard. Still a kid at heart—inside a ripped, godlike body—Shazam revels in this adult version of himself by doing what any teen would do with superpowers: have fun with them! Can he fly? Does he have X-ray vision? Can he shoot lightning out of his hands? Can he skip his social studies test? Shazam sets out to test the limits of his abilities with the joyful recklessness of a child. But he’ll need to master these powers quick.
Directed by David F. Sandberg, Shazam! stars Zachary Levi, Asher Angel, Mark Strong, Jack Dylan Grazer, Grace Fulton, Faithe Herman, Ian Chen, Jovan Armand, Cooper Andrews, Marta Milans, and Djimon Hounsou.
Shazam! is now available on Digital HD, 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, and DVD. Black Adam is currently scheduled to hit theaters on December 22, 2021. Stay tuned for all the latest news on Black Adam and be sure to subscribe to Heroic Hollywood’s YouTube channel for more original video content.
