It seems Mera can finally make her splash! Amber Heard surfaced brand new behind-the-scenes photos from the set of Aquaman 2.
As Aquaman 2 enters its second month at the box office, it seems as though the old DC Universe will end its run with a whimper, not a bang. While stars like Jason Momoa have already said their piece on the project, Amber Heard has finally shared her first social media post about her return as Mera, releasing several brand new BTS photos from the project as the Queen of Atlantis:
Given Amber Heard was largely restrained from any marketing materials relating to Aquaman 2, her fans are surely delighted to see the actress finally able to speak on what is likely the end of her time as Mera. It’s unlikely Heard will return to Atlantis in the rebooted DC Universe, but at the very least, she seems thankful for her time under the sea!
The future of the DC Universe
James Gunn and Peter Safran told journalists that their vision for the DC Universe includes locked scripts, wiggle room, and a unified storyline across film, television, animation, and video game projects. The two explained that the DC Universe could bring back elements from previous DC regimes, meaning that their eight-to-year plan is not a full reboot.
Shazam! Fury of the Gods, The Flash, Blue Beetle, and Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom have all been released following the announcement of the new DC Universe, all four projects struggling at the box office. Will the characters from those movies make appearances in the new DCU? Only Gunn and Safran know.
