Andrew Garfield Teases Return As Spider-Man Following ‘No Way Home’ Box Office Success

Is Andrew Garfield officially back?

Andrew Garfield Amazing Spider-Man 3 No Way Home

Andrew Garfield may not be done with Marvel yet! The actor hints at his return as Spider-Man following the smash success of Spider-Man: No Way Home at the box office.

Spider-Man: No Way Home proved to be a massive success for Marvel Studios. With the project grossing nearly $2 billion at the worldwide box office, many assumed that it was only a matter of time before Andrew Garfield came back as Spider-Man to try to repeat the success. When asked about the possibility, Garfield admitted that it was understandable people assumed he’d be in talks to return to the role.

“Yeah, of course, your assumption is not unfounded,” Garfield teased on the Happy Sad Confused podcast. “If I was in your position, I can imagine going, ‘Yeah, he’s probably had some conversations,’ too, yeah. I also understand that question as well. I also understand in your position you’re going to be wondering, because it was such a success, that you’d go, ‘Well they must be talking about it.’ I could imagine how you imagine that to be true.”

Even though Andrew Garfield didn’t say anything one way or another, it’s clear that both he and Marvel Studios understand the impact of Spider-Man: No Way Home‘s success at the box office. It’s reminiscent of the tone he took when first promoting the film, denying his return while still teasing that the door was open. However, it seems a full-hearted confirmation simply isn’t in the cards.

Andrew Garfield Comments On Spider-Man Return

Much like how Alfred Molina exploded in the internet by revealing his role in Spider-Man: No Way Home early, every interviewer wants their chance to get the explosive scoop of Andrew Garfield making his return to the MCU. However, Garfield himself seemingly knows how much hype the prospect could generate, and declines to officially comment on the possibility despite his teasing.

“This feels a little tantamount to illegal, kind of insider trading in some kind of way. No matter what I say, I could be held liable for that, and I’m going to decline to comment.”

It’s possible that Andrew Garfield’s return as Spider-Man could be coming sooner rather than later. Rumors indicate that Marvel’s follow-up to Spider-Man: No Way Home is set to focus on Sony’s multiverse of villains. This would be the perfect opportunity to bring Garfield back for one final ride. And, this time, make him one of the headlining stars of the film instead of a mere cameo.
