Kathryn Newton recently joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Cassie Lang in Ant-Man 3. However, it’s been revealed that she originally auditioned to play Kate Bishop in Hawkeye instead of Hailee Steinfeld.
Hailee Steinfeld turned out to be one of fans’ favorite parts of Hawkeye, with her version of Kate Bishop quickly climbing the ranks of breakout stars of the MCU’s Phase 4. However, it was recently revealed in a behind-the-scenes featurette that Ant-Man 3 star Kathryn Newton almost played the role instead, even getting so far as screen testing with Jeremy Renner:
Given the lackluster reception to Kathryn Newton as Cassie Lang in Antman 3, and the film in general, Marvel Studios seemingly made the right call in casting Hailee Steinfeld in Hawkeye. However, if rumors are to be believed, Kate Bishop is likely to cross paths with Cassie sometime soon in a Young Avengers project, though that project has yet to be formally announced.
What to expect after Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania
Fans of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania can look forward to more adventures featuring Scott Lang and Hope van Dyne, as the two are expected to return to the MCU. Kang also is sure to be a major player in the MCU and fans can’t wait to see how his story will unfold.
