Will Superman bring hope back to the DC Universe? Anthony Carrigan teases that the upcoming film will have a very different tone to some of his past work.
One of the most exciting casting announcements to come out of the DC Universe was the news that Anthony Carrigan would be playing Metamorpho in Superman. The Emmy nominated actor is one of the most layered actors in primetime right now, able to bring extreme levity as well as an outstanding depth to any character he brings to the screen. So hearing that he’d finally get a chance to stretch his legs in a blockbuster, fans were on the edge of their seat to see what the actor would bring to the rather obscure role.
Though, surprisingly, Anthony Carrigan has been all-but-absent from any coverage of Superman. Metamorpho wasn’t seen in any of the widely circulated set photos from the film. Aside from a very brief shot in the film’s trailer, fans don’t even know what the character will look like in the live-action DC Universe. This has left Carrigan’s biggest fans starving for any tease they could give about his role in the highly anticipated film.
Anthony Carrigan Speaks On Superman
This wall of silence was finally broken during Anthony Carrigan’s recent press tour for his project McVeigh, which is a dark reflection on the real life Oklahoma City Bombings. During an interview with ComicBookMovie.com, the actor tipped his hand a bit about his experience filming Superman. The biggest thing he could say is that it’s a complete departure from something like McVeigh, stating that the DC Universe film is filled with hope.
“I mean, honestly, the only thing I can say is just what a joy it was to work on a project like that,” Carrigan explained. “I’m so excited to obviously bring something like McVeigh to audiences, but also something that inspires such hope and is really about something very uplifting.”
Anthony Carrigan’s comments about Superman being a story of hope lines up with everything else fans have heard about the upcoming DC Universe film. In fact, in a world of increased cynicism and hatred, it has become one of the project’s main selling points. Though hopefully fans will see more of Carrigan’s Metamorpho soon so he can at least become a minor driver!
Superman is currently scheduled to hit theaters on July 11, 2025. Stay tuned for the latest news regarding the future of the DC Universe and make sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel for more content!
