The Falcon and The Winter Soldier star Anthony Mackie reacts to the reports that Chris Evans could reprise his role as Captain America.

While most fans are expecting to see Anthony Mackie pick up the Captain America mantle in The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, many were surprised by the recent reports that Chris Evans might return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe in some capacity as Steve Rogers. It’s possible that he’ll reprise his role in a way that benefits Sam Wilson’s character arc and journey to being the new Captain America, perhaps even as a mentor. But in a recent podcast appearance, Anthony Mackie revealed what he thinks about Chris Evans’ possible return.

Mackie explained to the Happy Sad Confused podcast that he’d be very happy about Chris Evans coming back into the fold after a brief absence following Avengers: Endgame. Don’t expect Steve to come in and quickly steal the mantle away from Sam though, as a recently leaked toy design seemingly showed off Wilson’s impressive Captain America costume. Take a look at Anthony Mackie discussing the rumors below.

“You know, I’ve heard that. Like, I’ve seen that, and, look, Chris is my boy, so if they’re getting the band back together, I’ll be very happy with that.”
