Variety reports that the Arkham Asylum series has brought on Antonio Campos as its showrunner and executive producer. Campos is also set to direct episodes of the HBO Max series. He is best known for directing 2016’s Christine and 2020’s The Devil All the Time.

Matt Reeves is building his Batman universe

The Arkham Asylum series is set in the same world as the Matt Reeves-directed The Batman, which opened in theaters in March 2022 and introduced audiences to a new take on the Dark Knight, played by British actor Robert Pattinson. Reeves has been meeting with writers and directors to expand his version of Gotham City.

According to Variety, HBO Max’s Gotham PD series remains in development despite reports that it had morphed into the Arkham Asylum project. Another series focusing on The Penguin is also in development and set to begin shooting next year, with Colin Farrell reprising his role as the iconic Batman villain. Matt Reeves is attached as a producer on the spin-offs.

The Batman earned $770.8 million at the worldwide box office, kicking off the post-pandemic blockbuster boom. It’s currently the fifth highest-grossing movie of 2022, just ahead of the Marvel Studios release Thor: Love and Thunder.

Directed by Matt Reeves, The Batman stars Robert Pattinson as the titular hero, Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman, Paul Dano as the Riddler, Jeffrey Wright as James Gordon, John Turturro as Carmine Falcone, Peter Sarsgaard as Gil Colson, Jayme Lawson as Bella Reál, with Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth, Colin Farrell as the Penguin and Barry Keoghan as The Joker.

The Batman is streaming exclusively on HBO Max and is available to own on 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray, Blu-ray, DVD and Digital HD. Stay tuned for the latest news from Gotham City and make sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel for more content!
