It seems another The Witcher star is set to make their stamp on the DC Universe! Anya Chalotra has officially joined Creature Commandos as the Wonder Woman villain Circe.

In 2023, rumors began circulating that Anya Chalotra would be joining Creature Commandos as Circe. Many fans were excited that The Witcher star would be joining the DC Universe as such an iconic Wonder Woman villain, but there was no official confirmation of her involvement until recently. When asked if Chalotra would be joining the animated series, James Gunn confirmed that she would, though perhaps not in the role many would expect.

“Yes. And there are other cool characters in the show played by other cool actors,” James Gunn revealed in a recent post on Threads. “But all of the series regulars were announced.”

This seems to imply that Anya Chalotra won’t be the main villain of Creature Commandos as many may have expected. While slightly disappointing, it’s likely James Gunn wouldn’t cast such a big name for an animated series if he didn’t have other plans for her in the DC Universe. Is it possible that Circe could be the main antagonist in a future Wonder Woman project like Paradise Lost?

Get Ready For A Weird War!

Creature Commandos is an upcoming animated series set to debut in 2024 for James Gunn and Peter Safran’s brand-new DC Universe. The show is set to feature the return of Sean Gunn’s Weasel from The Suicide Squad as Amanda Waller seeks to build a militia of monsters and outcasts. All 7 episodes for the show’s first season were written by Gunn.

Joining Sean Gunn’s Weasel in Creature Commandos is Frank Grillo as Rick Flagg Sr., the father of Joel Kinnaman’s Rick Flagg, as well as Maria Bakalova as Princess Ilana Rostovic, Indira Varma as The Bride, Zoe Chao as Nina Mazursky, Alan Tudyk as Dr. Phosphorus, and David Harbour as Eric Frankenstein. Sean Gunn will also be taking on the role of G.I. Robot in the series and will be joined by fellow The Suicide Squad alum Steve Agee, who is set to return as John Economos.
