‘Aquaman’ Shatters Records In China With $93.6 Million Opening Weekend

Aquaman Jason Momoa DC ComicsAquaman broke some impressive box office records when it opened in China this weekend.

Warner Bros. and DC’s Aquaman isn’t splashing into U.S. theaters until December 21st but it’s already crossing some major box office milestones in China. According to The Hollywood ReporterAquaman earned $93.6 million in China this weekend. According to the report, this makes the film record-breaking in a few ways.

Apparently, not only does this opening gross make it the biggest opening for a DC film in China ever, it’s the biggest opening weekend for any Warner Bros. film in China. The records don’t stop there though. The report also points out that Aquaman earned the highest opening weekend in China for a movie released in the month of December. The DC hero’s solo adventure may be opening in a crowded market when it makes its U.S. debut on Dec. 21st but if these early earnings are any indication, matched with the positive reviews so far, the underwater hero should have nothing to worry about.

If you’d like a chance to see Aquaman on the big screen one week before it hits theaters, Amazon Prime members have the chance to do so.
