Listen up y’a Bastiches! According to a new report, Jason Momoa has met with James Gunn and Peter Safran to play the Main Man Lobo in the new DC Universe!
A new report by Variety recently detailed some deep problems with the upcoming Aquaman sequel at DC Studios. However, one line caught many fans’ eyes, with the writer suggesting inside sources have confirmed the film’s star Jason Momoa to be in talks to play Lobo in James Gunn and Peter Safran’s DC Universe, potentially appearing in Superman: Legacy.
Jason Momoa has long been vocal about his love for the Main Man in DC Comics despite starring in Aquaman. While he’s assured fans he won’t be going as anywhere as Arthur Curry, James Gunn and Peter Safran’s DC Universe reboot may be his chance to play Lobo with no questions asked. Only time will tell if this casting will come to fruition.
The future of the DC Universe
James Gunn and Peter Safran told journalists that their vision for the DC Universe includes locked scripts, wiggle room, and a unified storyline across film, television, animation, and video game projects. The two explained that the DC Universe could bring back elements from previous DC regimes, meaning that their eight-to-year plan is not a full reboot.
Shazam! Fury of the Gods, The Flash, and Blue Beetle have all been released following the announcement of the new DC Universe, with Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom still slated to hit theaters in 2023. Will the characters from those movies make appearances in the new DCU? Only Gunn and Safran know.
