Nobody is more excited for the X-Men to join Avengers: Doomsday than Anthony Mackie! The Captain America star gives his reaction to the recent additions to the cast.
The Day of the Chair will go down as one of the most infamous days in the history of the MCU. A five hour livestream revealing only some of the cast of Avengers: Doomsday, with most being filled with familiar names like Anthony Mackie’s Captain America and Chris Hemsworth’s Thor. However, the one saving grace to the event was the reveal that the original X-Men movie cast was going to be joining the film, standing side by side with the Avengers for the first time in history.
It was a revelation that rocked many nerds, especially old ones that remember a time before the MCU, to their core. And it seems as though Anthony Mackie is one of those people. When speaking to DiscussingFilm about the production of Avengers: Doomsday, the Captain America star revealed his excitement to finally work alongside the X-Men, especially when it comes to the legends in the original cast.
“I’m excited, dude. Growing up, X-Men was one of my favorite cartoons. Growing up with comic books, Cyclops was my favorite cartoon character. I hope we get Kelsey Grammer as Beast. All of those amazing actors, we’re talking about some really really good actors”
“I’m excited we get to work with Sir Patrick Stewart, it’s going to be pretty amazing. And if they’re folded into the universe it’ll just add to the mystique and the greatness of what Marvel’s been”
What X-Men Will Be In Avengers: Doomsday?
Currently, Anthony Mackie’s Captain America will star alongside seven X-Men in Avengers: Doomsday. Joining him in the cast are Kelsey Grammer as Beast, James Marsden as Cyclops, Sir Ian McKellen as Magneto, Sir Patrick Stewart as Charles Xavier, Alan Cumming as Nightcrawler, and Rebecca Romijn as Mystique. Joining these original actors is Channing Tatum, who will be reprising his role as Gambit from Deadpool and Wolverine.
There’s no word on how the cast of the X-Men will be integrated into the plot of Avengers: Doomsday. Most likely, Captain America will come to blows with the newly integrated mutants before joining alongside them to fight against Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom. Though whether that Captain America is Anthony Mackie, or perhaps some other version, is currently yet to be seen.
